Instapaper auto-archive by Thadd Selden
If you’re a user of Instapaper, you might miss the auto-archive feature they used to have. It would automatically archive an article when you clicked on it to read it. At the time that they removed the feature, I created FIFO Links, which uses HTML5 storage to accomplish the same thing. The catch with FIFO Links is that it didn’t provide shared storage; it only worked in one browser.
Recently, I decided that I should give Instapaper another shot (driven mostly by support for Instapaper in Reeder, the excellent RSS app for iPad). So as a result, I created a Safari extension that revives Instapaper’s auto-archive feature.

Minimal Instapaper by Richard Käll
A cleaner Instapaper reading list. No ads, no extras.
Nice, except that it doesn’t actually block the ads and they wind up in the middle of the article list. Also, speaking as a big fan of Instapaper and a slightly less-big (but still large) fan of ads by The Deck, I’d like to see a version of this extension that puts the ads to one side but leaves them visible.

Placemarker by Canisbos Computing
Placemarker is for those times when you wish you could save your place in a long web page so you could come back to that point later without having to hunt for it. Placemarker lets you create special bookmarks, called placemarks, that it saves to Instapaper or Read It Later, whichever service you prefer. (You can also save a placemark as a Safari bookmark, though you’ll have to save the bookmark manually.)
The magic happens when you later open the placemark: Safari will automatically scroll to the phrase you selected when you created the placemark.

GReader Instapaper by Brett Terpstra
Adds single-keystroke sending of the current Google Reader article to your Instapaper account. Just install and add your Instapaper username and password in the settings, then choose your hotkey. Any time you’re reading an article in Google Reader, just hit your hotkey and it’s in your Instapaper bookmark list!

InstapaperIt by ElasticThreads
Gives you two ways to send links to your Instapaper Account in the background. You can right-click on a link and InstapaperIt via the contextual-menu. Or you can hold down the option/alt key while clicking on a link and it will get Instapapered.

Instapaper Beyond by Brett Terpstra
Instapaper Beyond adds some serious keyboard-fu to Instapaper.com. Articles are loaded via Ajax and can be navigated, sent to email, Evernote, Delicious and several Mac apps, deleted, starred, archived, restored, etc., all with single keystrokes. Just install the extension, go to your Instapaper account’s “Unread” page and press “h” to see available commands.
