What's Neue? by Connor Griffin

I have come here to redeem myself with another text replacement extension (the easiest ones to make). The last one I made was called ChalkItUp, and we can both agree it was pretty horrible. I liked it at the time, but looking back, that font is so ugly.

Helvetica Neue is a great adaptation to the incredibly popular Helvetica typeface, so why not make it default on every site? Well, like my previous safari extension, ChalkItUp (Which I have now “killed with fire,” as was recommended by the author of Safari Extensions. Since Helvetic Neue is an adaptation of Helvetica, I figured I would do an adaptation of HelveticaTheWorld.

I’m glad to see that my gentle chiding has had its desired effect.

Facebook Improved by Lex Friedman

Facebook Improved, unsurprisingly, improves Facebook. It removes modules you don’t need to see (the ever-present callout to create events, certain ad units). It puts the entire site into Helvetica. It bumps up bizarrely small fonts that Facebook employs in certain situations. And it makes sure you know when you’re writing on someone else’s wall.

Lucidica by Ismael Sobek

The official Lucidica Safari extension by Ismael Sobek is now available; if you’re one of the Chrome users who have been lurking about, there’s now a Chrome extension available as well.

For anyone who missed it the first time, Lucidica is a simple, Helvetica-based redesign for Google Reader based on Jon Hicks’ Helvetireader, which has also been ported into an extension.

Lucidica Reader, ported by Adam Wilcox
The original userscript is by Ismael Sobek, based on Jon Hicks’ Helvetireader design. Another one for the white, red, and Helvetica crowd.

Helvetireader, ported by Dave Fayram

The original userscript is by Hicksdesign. If you’re a fan of simple, Helvetica-laced design and hate the idea of using an input manager to run GreaseKit, this one’s for you.

EDIT: If you’d rather read the code and build the extension yourself, check out Ronny Haryanto’s GitHub repository.
